This past weekend was the first "trip" that I have taken while here in Aussie land. We went to byron Bay which is about an hour away from our campus. We went with a group called "mojo surf" It pretty much is a bunch of surfer guys teaching all us dumb Americans how to "rip it up". haha It was one of the best weekends I have had here! Byron bay is absolutely gorgeous! When the bus picked us up we were informed that we had to wake up at 7am to go surfing....then....(in aussie style) we went strait to the liquor store haha! We checked out the town for a little bit and then headed home for bed. Then at 7am we got up and went surfing! Wow is that a good workout! I did really well and the instructors let me use a hard board rather than a foam board which is what you use to learn on! So that was really cool! Most of the time we were just being pushed in by the white parts of the wave not the swell...but an instructor took me out to a deeper part and taught me how to "really" surf a wave! It was great! All aussies are just so laid back and nice! After surfing we headed back to out hostel and grabbed lunch. Then we explored all the shops that Byron bay had to offer! I felt like I was in Gordys Pro shop in many of them! haha Then we went back to our rooms and showered up for the night. The Rugby world cup is going on right now and the biggest game yet was on sat night and it was England vs. Australia! Wow was it an exciting game because there were both Aussie fans and England fans out at the bars watching it! England ended up winning which was a big upset for the Aussie fans. The next morning we woke up again and went surfing. The waves were much stronger and a lot harder to surf! But I still loved every second of it and boy am I sore! After we got back from "tearing it up" we went to the famous light house at byron bay! Here are a few pics of the light house and all of the views from it! It was AMAZING....this is also the eastern most point of Australia! So that was really cool. All in all it was a great weekend and we plan to go back really soon!

Calie-Bob just got me signed up for talking to you-Uncle karl and Nurse April left LaCrosse today--we miss them already-they should be settled at home and we'll be bringing Ollie and Parker home on thursday. Ollie taught Nicki and Foster how to open the cupboard door and eat all the dog cookies--Ollie wasn't feeling too well today-hopefully he'll be ok by thursday! We got Auntie April out a lot - had a cocktail cruise on the boat and tried our best to sample most of LaCrosse's restaurants! Uncle Karl came out on Sunday for brunch so it was just like old times- we baked a cake for Parker's 13th bday (a dog's face that Katie drew and we dyed the frosting grey!) and got her a bone as a present. I know Ollie is anxious to head back to the lake because he tries to swim in every mud puddle he sees - what a muddy mess he is and gets hosed off every day but what a blast he has! He's learning to stay out from in front of the 4wheelers-only got head-butted from a mother cow once when he got too close to her new calf-hasn't been kicked by the horses yet-and is my fencing buddy-the only one who stays out w/me all afternoon doing the chores when the others have given up and gone back home! Your surfing sounds so cool-but what about the sharks? Guess we're showing our age now! We miss you and love hearing how you're doing--but forever a mom, I have to ask : is there any studying going on-??you're classes sound like a dream. We thought of you at Oktoberfest-one guy had a beer bong table right in the front yard -I even got to play sipper cup w/the college kids-maybe I got the name wrong-Jon is researching this so we'll be well-prepared for any drinking game you college kids can come up with next year-tho it didn't take long to get the hang of this one-well-gotta go practice now-love ya--hugs from us all- the crazy farm bunch! (Wonderful Auntie April passed your email to us so who knows who else you'll be getting messages from!)
